Rooftop. More fun in Zamboanga!

This was in Rio Hondo, again! Rio Hondo is actually very populous in terms of inhabitants. The volume of people permeates the whole area. This was in Muslim village. As you can decipher, there's this dome-like roof on the picture, and guess what's that............ it is actually the Mosque's Dome. I really wonder why Muslims' mosques has domes in their churches. ;)

Fish Bidding. More fun in Zamboanga!

FISH BIDDING. This picture was taken in Rion Hondo, Zamboanga City. See how the locals sell their fresh catch. Well actually, This is very common in the near provinces of Zamboanga City. In our province, in Zambo. del Norte, they use to segregate the big fishes and the small ones before they "suroy" or "lako" in Tagalog it to the town. The fishes were very fish, and in fact, fishermen are just using the old-school way of catching fish, which is the using the net. ;)

Jungle Flames: Santan

Ixora Coccinea, Ixora Philippinensis, Ixora Stricta, also know as Flames of the Wood, Jungle Flames, and Jungle Geranium. And yes, it's up to you if what name you wish to call the "Santan Flower". Santan is really a gorgeous flower, "Small but Terrible" as they say, but not the literal one, when I say terrible, I simply mean it's amazing. Nevertheless, Santan is so lovely as it resiliently grows anywhere, even in sandy places.

When I was a kid, I used to suck the Santan's nectar, and it is really so sweet like a honey. My old friends taught me how to do that. Just pick a Santan flower, get its needle-like part in its centre, and gently pull that needle-like stuff. In Zamboanga, Santan can be found anywhere. In fact, you can found Santan flowers that were decorated in most of the parks in Zamboanga. That's how I describe Santan's popularity. Even in our house, we had a Santan shrub, and it is so amazing when it blooms. It's color orange actually and it's not the dwarf-type-flower, it had this very huge, bulky flower as big and round like a basketball (that's so exaggerated, half of the basketball will be more believable) hahahah. Before I forgot, Santan comes in different colors, it has pink, violet, the common red, white, yellow, orange and I think, I saw a blue ones, which is so nice.;) ---> Photos are courtesy of Flickr.

Sunset Perk

STUNNING and EXQUISITE! This photo is anonymous. It wasn't mentioned whether this photo was taken in Zamboanga or not. But since it's very stunning and amazing image, I immediately posted it. Great isn't it! Actually, this photo was awarded with multiple awards by Nikon through Flickr website.

El Gumamela

Gumamela - Scientific Name: Hibiscus rosa-sinensis

The Genus Hibiscus comprises plants also commonly called hibiscus and less widely known as rosemallow. The large genus of about 200–220 species of flowering plants in the family Malvaceae (the mallow family, along with members like cacao, cotton, okra, baobab and durian) native to warm, temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. The genus includes both annual and perennial herbaceous plants, and woody shrubs and small trees. - Wikipedia.

Known as Hibiscus in English. I remember, when I was a little kid, I used to crush a bunch of Gumamela, and I use its oil-like consistency extract and mixed with water to become my bubble liquid. hahahah. That was so fun. In Zamboanga City, you can commonly see a lot of Gumamela variety in every house's backyard. Gumamela is actually just a simple flower, but its simplicity makes it more beautiful and spectacular. Gumamela has numerous variety which also comes in different colors. Some of its petals comes in double, and single layered-configuration. Simplicity is beauty! ;)  ---> Photos are courtesy of Flickr.
